General: We are definitely low on snow so far this year. We've received a total of 8.08" of snow, and our 5 year calibrated average is 39.79" for the same time period. I've attached a chart showing snowfall and gauge catch for this site since 1998. Note that before 2021 the measurements were uncalibrated, and after that represent the CoCoRaHS Protocol. The trendline indicates a gradual increase in snowfall over time.
Agriculture: Winter wheat is looking okay at this point.
Energy: We're into the low production phase, but with yesterday's clear skies and sun we still produce a little more than we used (40.89 kWHR vs 38.95 kWHR). It's worth note that this is in the face of the fact that we are awaiting a part for our heat pumps that has been delayed in delivery, and we are using space heaters for most of the house.
Fire: little risk
Plants/Wildlife: Strangely, we still have flocks of American Robins. Chickadees are back, and we are watching a herd of deer on our neighbor's farmland on Buckskin.
Water: So far, not a great year. As you can see from the chart, this is our third year in decline for snowfall.
