Winter came barreling through this past week to show what season is boss. While not a major storm for Minnesota, it was the first blast dumping 5” of snow through Wednesday afternoon and into the evening ending with a total of 7.6” including the lighter Snow and Flurries on the surrounding days. It was a heavier wet Snow and even with plowing and clearing there is patchy ICE that remains. A rapid Temperature drop followed as low as -15°, and Winds dropped the Wind Chill into the low -20’s. The absence of Sunshine has kept an average 11” Snowpack. Area lakes are completely iced over, but the actual thickness is unknown. Forecast: A warming trend with Temps reaching above Freezing and a chance for low 40’s bringing a chance of Light RAIN and/or a Snow Shower mid-week. Mostly Cloudy skies and Light Winds.
