Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IA-LN-49
Station Name: Cedar Rapids 2.1 NW
Report Date: 12/7/2025
Submitted: 12/07/2025 9:19 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Category D1 still remains as per email received from NOAA drought.gov on the 12/1/2025. However, it is expected to improve. Some snow pack melt occurred, then more decent snow with some ice and trace received this week, the bulk of which was received on the date of this report. Record or near breaking cold on the 4th. Snow blower and shoveling required. I heard an increase in Owl hoots. Several gutters on homes had icicles forming on gutters, as well as snow curtains off of their roofs formed by blowing snow. This was observed throughout the week before this weekend’s snow. Feel free to read station observation comments for more details. Overall Mood-most I witnessed and spoke with were WRN, prepared with yak traks, layers, and caution of cold temps and snow to stay indoors and safe during this week’s events. Looking ahead, temps to drop this evening, a bit of a warm up followed by more cold and a chance of snow. Stay safe clearing snow everyone!
