It's been a chilly week and I haven't spent as much time outside because of the colder temps and wind. We've had some moisture through the week and little sunshine so the soil is what I would call near normal for this time of year.
Plants are still holding on to leaves though we've had a few hard freezes. I need to mow the leaves down one more time. It will be the third time I've mowed the yard due to leaves rather than raking them. It will help loosen this hard Oklahoma soil and the leaves around the fence line give birds and their insect meals a place to hang out.
We still have the dedicated fishermen out on the lake fishing each day though their numbers are way, way down. The Grove area relies on the recreational income that fishing tournaments and the lake play bring each year.
