Description:
Rain is the story for this past week - finally! 1.65” in one 24 hour event. It had been 24 days since the last significant rainfall. ETo was 0.64”. Temperatures started out very warm with highs in the upper 80s for a couple days and then trending down to the upper 60s for the weekend. Morning lows were very mild with the coolest morning being 47 degrees but were typically in the 50s and 60s. We were in D1 drought status before the rain so hopefully that improved. No supplemental watering was needed for containers or beds. Plant and wildlife activity did not change much this week - same as it’s been. No noticeable difference in the trees changing colors - I think the warm weather stalled that. The pumpkins that I sat out for decor are rotting from the heat - just need them for a few more days and then they can go to the compost. Planted a few new native shrubs last weekend - gotta love that you can do that in the middle of November in TX. Prairie restoration is all completely brown now, sunflowers have all died back. Happy Thanksgiving!
