No measurable rain during the week again made the wildfire danger stay in the moderate range. Mornings with frost made the dry leaves and grasses wet. Farmers that did fall tillage moved some plant stubble into the ground and helped to keep the danger level from going to high. Little fieldwork or yardwork was left to do in this area. A few geese were still around, likely the "residents", the ones that stop here in spring and don't go farther north. Some turkeys were seen in flocks of 10 to 20 usually, they were gleaning fields. Few deer were seen during the day, many were seen after dark-with headlights. It seemed to be that the bucks were still in rut. The creek had ice on the edges of slow moving areas and stagnant pools most mornings. The ponds also had some thin ice near the banks most mornings. A few days the ice melted during the day. Rivers didn't have any ice. Some days geese were on the open waters of ponds and rivers.
