Weather is much like what is expected for the third week of November - below freezing most nights and windy. Last Sunday was rainy with 0.55" followed with 0.03" yesterday, the week in between was a mix of cloudy and sunny days. Daytime temps were pleasant for outdoor fall cleanup to-do's. Pretty normal.
Fallen leaves cleanup is done, trying again to keep the balance of keeping the resources of the spent pollinator garden and its seeds and all for the birds while also avoiding a look of an abandoned wasteland. There were a few other birds around this week beyond the usual crows and sparrows. Lots of starlings announced themselves several times this week. There are a small group of bluejays that have been around for several days now (half dozen or so). A couple of the jays were interacting with the crows in the open field across the street - getting closer and closer to the crows, almost like they were taunting them. It could be "normal" but it's a behavior I have not seen before.
Other critters include Juncoes, squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks (with cheeks full of maple seeds).
With winter weather not far behind, I plan to get the snowboard in place this week now that the leaves are gone and before the ground freezes (for the markers).
Happy Thanksgiving!
