The past week has brought some light rain showers and it has been seasonably cool for most of the week. The soil is damp but not wet as the rain had the time to soak in gradually. The trees have shed 90-100% of their leaves and most of the bushes have lost theirs as well. Birds have continued to feed on seeds, from feeders, and to some extent on insects available. Most of the migratory birds visible have moved to their southern ranges and those coming from northern areas are present here. Small mammals have been active and working on making nests. Larger mammals are visibly moving including predators such as coyotes.
