Nov. 17 - 22, 2025: A total of 0.38" of rain with 0.14" measured on the 17th, 0.10" on the 20th, and 0.12" on the 21st. Soil under even the large trees is wet. Enough precip. for flow in the street drains. Trees are NEARLY done dropping leaves-- only sweet gum, sycamore, and oaks have a few leaves to go. Warm enough daytime temps. recently to keep the grass growing. Some geraniums, pansies, alyssum, petunias, and a few wax begonias still have blooms. Overnight temps are forecast to drop into the low 20's for a few mornings in the next week or so, and nearly all flowering plants in the gardens will be killed. Birds and squirrels are very actively looking for food. Anna's hummingbird is visiting the feeders often. Squirrels have eaten all the remaining grapes on the vines---they may have a lean winter because oak tress in the yard did not have many acorns this year. Acorns stopped dropping more than a month ago. Snow is forecast for mid-week and next weekend for highest elevations in foothills and mountains in Idaho and surrounding states, possibly as low as about 4500 ft. in some places. Overall temps. for Idaho this year have been consistently higher than normal. Weather this winter is going to be interesting for snowpack and water supply and temperatures.
