I was tempted to select moderately dry, but in the no growing season, this is hard to assess. I would say, though, that if we are truly in the mildly dry category, we are borderline to moderately. We’ve had no precip whatsoever for nearly 4 weeks, days and even nights have been very warm and windy. So, the soil is bone dry. Earlier this week, I spent hours watering enough to soak all of our gardens and lawns in hopes it was enough to keep the soil fro, becoming hydrophobic and, thus, not getting enough benefit from the 0.5” of rain forecasted to fall last night and this morning, but we got not Ont bit of that! It only drizzled so lightly on Friday morning, Nov 21, that the wood deck didn’t even get shined wet, just darker from dampness. Nothing in the rain gauge.
