Station Number: FL-GD-7
Station Name: Havana 5.1 SSW
Report Date: 11/20/2025
Submitted: 11/20/2025 3:32 PM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
These are the most severe drought conditions that I have observed on this property in the past 50 years. Over the past 81 days covering all September, October and the first 20 days of November, there has been a total of only 1.37” of precipitation. Through 30 days of September there was only 0.40” with all that coming on the 27th. For the 31 days of October there was a total of only 0.91”, with most of that occurring on the 6th, the 20th, and the 28th. So far through the first 20 days of November, there has only been 0.06” of measurable precipitation. There was no measurable precipitation on 29 days in September, 25 days in October, and 18 of the first 20 days in November. On November 11 there was a light freeze with the temperature reaching 28 degrees, which killed whatever grass that had not already turned brown from the drought. There has been very little blooming of fall wildflowers and acorns are still falling. Nothing remains in my vegetable garden. My citrus – lemons and satsumas – are ripening again. Heat stress is apparent on my oranges and some of the oak and cypress trees. Yard areas which normally would have mowable grass have a covering of oak leaves which have dropped prematurely. Frontal systems should soon bring moisture to the area and provide relief, but this has been an especially severe drought.
