Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MA-WR-112
Station Name: Shrewsbury 0.4 S
Report Date: 11/16/2025
Submitted: 11/16/2025 10:13 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
This past week was a bit wet with only two days of zero in the rain gauge. Two of those days collected just a trace, and the total for the week was just 0.55". Nothing dramatic, rather the rains were the type that sink into the ground rather than just running off.
Most of the trees are bare now, several nights have dropped below freezing. With those conditions, and when the clouds clear, the sky has been bright blue in the mornings and, despite light pollution in the center of town, clear bright stars at night. Bonus - the sky cleared well enough that on Tuesday night we were able to see the northern lights! Not just here, but the lights were visible to millions across half the continent. What a treat!
A few Juncoes showed up on my back porch this week, checking out the empty bird feeder (perhaps reminding me that they're here for winter?). There's still the spent pollinator garden for that, the sparrows are in there regularly. Little winter moths are gathering on the front porch near the light too so there's another source of food if they're interested. Rabbits and squirrels are still around, the usual cast of characters. It's all good.
