With a total of about .02" of precipitation observed in the past week, conditions at this station are Mildly Dry. Though frost has often been present at the time of readings, soil is loose and powdery. Plentiful dry plant materials are great for compost but we are hoping for some rain before the temperatures drop. Some Catmint and Kale plants have survived so far, though sunflowers are now dry and feeding birds, such as Goldfinches and Sparrows. It will be interesting to see how the season progresses.
