With no precipitation over the last week (the brief 5 minutes of snow flurries last Monday evening not withstanding), and with only 0.35” of rain so far this month, York County, South Carolina has moved to a “Moderately Dry” condition. This is also evidenced by the U.S. Drought Monitor map, which shows the east and southern parts of the county with a D1-Moderately Dry” intensity. Locally, lawns have gone dormant, and leaf drop has increased, although there is still plenty of color left on the trees. Statistically, rainfall year-to-date is 1.98” above normal, but still 15.36” below last year. Area lakes continue to be 3-5 feet below normal pool.
