With 0.77” of rain this week, conditions remain near normal. The oaks in the neighborhood have completely dropped their leaves with only a few leaves left hanging on. There are still some red leaves on the wild blueberries on the island but that’s about it for foliage this year. We’ll be doing our final raking this week, about 2-3 week’s earlier than usual. The Pascoag Reservoir continues to slowly drain and should be down to normal winter level in about 2 weeks. Trails at George Washington park and Sprague farm are wet in the usual places and streams are flowing again after a very dry summer. Hunting season is underway and we saw a group of hunters bringing out a bagged deer this week at Sprague Farm. Winter birds have been active with blue jays, sparrows, chickadees, blue birds and woodpeckers frequent visitors. George Washington state park is still posting Low for fire danger.
