Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NJ-MS-59
Station Name: Madison 0.8 WSW
Report Date: 11/10/2025
Submitted: 11/09/2025 8:08 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Thus far for my “Watershed,” that resides in the “Upper Passaic River” Watershed, that covers from 1.5 miles to the NW to about 1.5 miles to the SE and is about 1 mile in width and in the general shape of a diamond;

There were two days with measurable precipitation and one day with trace precipitation for a total of 0.15”, the past seven days [Sunday-Sat]. River and stream volume the past week of the CMR increased rates of flow over small lake dams west of this station. As of Sunday morning, 11/2; one decreased its flow to 10% the width of the dam 6.5 miles from this station moving at a slow volume and with no turbidity. The other, 2 miles to the west, also decreased its flow over its fall, now covering 10% of its respective fall and moving at a similar, volume with no turbidity. The Madison Golf Course, adjacent this station had observable play again this past week on all days with daily watering of greens and fairways. The ground around this station is moist and soft. Grass and weeds did not require maintenance the past week. A few new Winged Euonymus or Burning Bush’s that are new this year on and around this station, turned entirely RED the past week, and began to drop their leaves. Maple trees are looking well with fall color past peak the past ten days. Also, the Juvenal Oak’s and two Ginkgo Trees, are doing well. FALL color on and around this station, now 95% of leaves have turned a color with 80% of leaves fallen. Yellow Jacket Bees were also observed, but becoming more scarce. House Finch were very active, along with Blue Jays, crows and one very loud Ravin. Neighborhood squirrels were observed along with a Chipmunk all rapidly adding to their winter cashes. Also; the neighborhood Ginkgo trees that dropped their stinky fruits the past two weeks, are still holding their stink. The first Frost observation for this station, this season, was reported on October 10th. Since then; I have observed and reported a total of 6 days with frost, 1 additional the past week.

Over the past 31 days; this station has captured and reported 4.39 inches of precipitation. There has been 113 days of precipitation the previous 303 days of CY2025 [1/1/2025 to 11/08/2025] for a “Calendar Year” [CY] total of
40.80”, compared to (again) 113 Precipitation Days” and a [CY] total of (still) 47.41” the same [year to date] in CY2024. So far, compared to last year, this station has received 6.61” less precipitation than a year ago. Some other totals from previous years, for comparison, are;
YTD2023- 46.12”
YTD2022- 37.97”
YTD2021- 51.69”
YTD2020- 42.74”
YTD2019- 52.16”
YTD2018- 58.20”
YTD2017- 40.64”
YTD2016- 36.47”
YTD2015- 34.04”  (First full Year.)

The running ELEVEN year average reported precipitation for THIS station is: 44.41” inches, placing this station at a deficit of 3.61” less then the 11 year average and making this year to date, (still again) the fifth driest year monitoring this station. Considering the eleven year annual comparable total for this station, is why I believe that it is appropriate to continue this week’s report to the “Mildly Dry” side of the Condition Scale Bar.
