We had about 2.5 inches from the atmospheric river that came in starting Monday night through Tuesday. The heaviest rains were well north of us, around Eureka, and the winds here were not as strong as predicted. Our fire department had planned to deal with many downed trees, but there was only one. The ocean conditions were pretty severe, so no fishing or water sports this week. The rainy season is starting a bit slow, as it did last year, with only 1.54 inches in October. We'll hope for a repeat of the strong rains in November and December we had last year to recharge the ground water. Not as many tourists in town this week, so we locals could enjoy the mild temperatures and bright blue skies without fighting traffic.
