Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MA-BE-36
Station Name: Cheshire 2.6 N
Report Date: 11/9/2025
Submitted: 11/09/2025 8:04 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
Just over an inch of rain for the week has kept soil moisture and stream flow near normal. With night temperatures dropping into the 20's and 30's and day temperatures peaking in the low 50's, most plants have entered dormancy. I harvested the last of the fall planted spinach, leaving only parsnips to overwinter in the garden. A few late dandelions are flowering in the driveway and the forsythia bush has sprouted several confused blossoms. Strong wind during the week stripped most of the remaining leaves from the trees. Only the weeping willows by the pond still have leaves and they are thinning rapidly. White tail deer remain active. Cottontail rabbits have become more visible as vegetation dies back. I finished my annual mowing of the old pasture where goldenrod seems to have been very prolific this year. Greylock hiking and biking trails are leaf covered and also wet in the usual places.
