Quite cloudy this morning. Have had 0.06” of rain in rain gauge already. More to come. Still no snow. Leaves on trees still holding on. Not windy enough apparently to get them down. Growing season definitely over except for the Mullen, Chives, and Mint. Grass till green. Husband mulched leaves into grass yesterday. Still using heat pump most of the time. Not cold enough for the regular furnace, even overnight. Sunlight getting to be less and less to charge up our solar lights. They stay on only 1/2 the night. Luckily we have 4. No chipmunks seen at all. Bees and Yellow Jackets are gone. Only squirrels out. Woodpeckers and Nuthatches seen on the suet. Have seen Crows and geese overhead. Crows flying north and geese south. Not many of either type. No water restrictions. A friend just got a Covid vaccine so those are happily still available. Hiking conditions in the White Mountains are definitely more dangerous with the snow that people from out of the area can easily get caught in a blizzard without taking precautions. Weather reports include instructions for people who want to hike to bring supplies besides food and water, a shelter of some kind, layers of clothing, crampons, and some sort of emergency beacon. The Merrimack River that runs past our park, still seems quite low since the log that has been stuck on the opposite river bank is still dry and above the water level.
