Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NJ-MS-59
Station Name: Madison 0.8 WSW
Report Date: 10/7/2025
Submitted: 10/06/2025 8:46 PM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
Thus far for my “Watershed,” that resides in the “Upper Passaic River” Watershed, that covers from 1.5 miles to the NW to about 1.5 miles to the SE and is about 1 mile in width and in the general shape of a diamond;

There was one day with measurable precipitation and zero days with trace precipitation for a total of 0.06”, the past seven days [Sunday-Sat]. River and stream volume the past week of the CMR decreased there rates of flow over small lake dams west of this station. As of Sunday morning, 10/5; one decreased flow to 40% the width of the dam 6.5 miles from this station at a SLOW volume and with no turbidity. The other, 2 miles to the west, decreased its flow over its fall, now covering <10% of its respective fall and moving at a similar volume with no turbidity. The Madison Golf Course, adjacent this station had observable play again this past week on all days with daily watering of greens and fairways. The ground around this station is dry and increasingly hard. Grass and weeds required less maintenance the past week. Maple trees are looking well with some fall color slowly emerging, but more brown leaves along with the Juvenal Oak’s and two Ginkgo Trees, also all doing well. FALL color continues to materialize on and around this station around this station. Bees increased noticeably all around this station. House Finch were very active, along with Blue Jays. Downey Woodpackers were heard again. The Hummingbird feeder began with 315 g of Fall Nectar and had 19g consumed or 6% use, the previous 7 days and the same was refreshed the morning of 10/5 with 25% more sugar for the seasonal migration. Neighborhood squirrels were observed along with one Chipmunk. The Crape Myrtle late blooms faded. The Black Walnuts continue to drop their nuts in the local neighborhood along with Oak Trees with greater frequency. Also; the neighborhood Ginkgo trees began dropping their stinky fruits exactly on 9/26 and continue to do so as of this report.

Over the past 31 days; this station has captured and reported 3.22
 inches of precipitation. There has been 102 days of precipitation the previous 275 days of CY2025 [1/1/2025 to 10/04/2025] for a “Calendar Year” [CY] total of
36.18”, compared to 100 Precipitation Days” and a [CY] total of
47.41” the same [year to date] in CY2024. So far, compared to last year, this station has received 11.23” less precipitation than a year ago. Some other totals from previous years, for comparison, are;
YTD2023- 43.45”
YTD2022- 35.50”
YTD2021- 44.74”
YTD2020- 37.39”
YTD2019- 45.93”
YTD2018- 53.01”
YTD2017- 34.12
YTD2016- 34.61”
YTD2015- 31.22”  (First full Year.)

The running ELEVEN year average reported precipitation for THIS station is: 40.32” inches, placing this station at a deficit of 4.14” less then the 11 year average and making this year to date, (again) the fifth driest year monitoring this station. Considering the eleven year annual comparable total for this station, is why I believe that it is appropriate to continue to maintain this week’s report to the “Near Normal” side of the Condition Scale Bar.
