Station Name: Portage 5.7 WSW
Report Date: 9/16/2025
Submitted: 9/16/2025 6:33 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
Thunderstorms began over my rain gauge September 12 around 3AM, ending just after 6AM. Steady moderate to heavy rain fell for at least 2 hours. My gauge had a lot of rain in it measuring 3.08". It has been a very long time since I had that much from one storm. I saw a rain vision map showing a narrow band of heavy rain from northwest of Wisconsin Dells to Milw .My CoCoRaHS 2 miles south of me had only 1.13" and another a few miles northwest of here had 1.28" and Baraboo had 0.37". MY area in general is dry, and farm crops need a decent rain. Lawns are turning brown, and gardens need watering. In general, it has been great weather for putting up 4th crop hay, outdoor construction and outdoor activities. The Baraboo River is about 3 ft below normal.
