A bit of everything this week.
Severe Weather Event Friday. Many alerts, watches and warnings issued. Heavy winds, lightning, thunders, hail, over an inch of rain received. Tree debris occurred, no extreme damages at my location. Following that event, another Heat Wave. Heat indices ranged from 100F to 124F. 124F heat index lasted briefly on Friday the 16th around 7PM, it dropped to 107F around 8PM. Increase in mosquitoes and flies. Plants and animal activity remained the same or normal. Mowing required. Tons of acorns fell off trees this week. Topics worthy of mention outside the area-One person contracted Naegleria Fowleri (brain eating amoeba) from the waters in Lake of the Ozarks. Hurricane Erin is also a topic of discussion. Overall Mood-still hot, humid and Iowa Extremes are typical for Iowa Summers. Most are prepared for extremes each season of the year. Looking ahead-forecast offers more chances for Heat, Humidity, and Rain. Continue to stay Weather Aware Everyone! :):)
