May is running 1.32" below normal of 2.68" an April was 1.51" below normal of 3.69". YTD is 1.46" below normal but March saw plenty of rain to fill up sloughs, ditches and marshes which are in good shape. The Baraboo River is at least 3 ft below normal. Nights have been cold, so surface moisture is good several inches down. Farmers are finding great planting conditions. Some low spots and heavier ground are a little tacky. Lawns, winter wheat and alfalfa are green and growing. Gardens need watering. Wildfire danger is low. It's been good weather for outdoor construction and great weather for outdoor activities.
