A warm dry April on the heels of a very warm and dry March has decreased topsoil moisture. Lawns are already being irrigated to retain greenness. Although winter wheat looks good and healthy at this time, it would only take 1-2 days of dry winds with above normal temperatures to cause potential yield reduction. Pasture growth is slow. Abundant rain is needed soon for dryland hay production. Creeks are dry and river flow is below normal. Reservoirs levels are below normal for this time of year.
