The spotty scattered showers ten days ago have evaporated and ponds and streams never showed any effects from the rain.  Some ponds are down a few feet while others show more expansive mud flats.  The long periods in the summer and fall without any rain have undermined any of the positive impacts.  Many small plants are showing drought stress and trees are dropping leaves without changing color first as one would expect in 3 or 4 weeks.
