This week my station received 0.21 inches of rain, down from 1.89 inches last week. Over the past 4 weeks my station has received 2.82 inches of rain. Conditions are currently Near Normal. The rain from last week really perked up the plants and trees. A few trees had begun to drop dry leaves, but that has stopped. I didn’t need to water my community garden plot for the entire week. Even yesterday, the plants weren’t dry looking (but I watered anyway). The top of the soil had dried out, but it was moist again about a quarter of an inch down. The porch slugs are back and I’m seeing some baby slugs. The hummingbirds are still drinking from our feeder. I’m still seeing bees and bumblebees and a few flies. Smaller birds are surprisingly scarce. The squirrels are building nests again.
