Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NM-CH-37
Station Name: Roswell 28.5 NNE
Report Date: 3/26/2023
Submitted: 3/26/2023 7:59 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
After another week of being windy with no measurable moisture, we are not sure if spring is here yet. We have watched some clouds that it was nothing, but virga and others just flew on by. The seedless mulberry has buds, but we seem to drop below freezing and it is undecided. The mustard that popped up near the buildings is drawing the early butterflies and honeybees. but it is not prevalent in the pastures yet. There are some weeds that are trying to pop up, but they are not growing much. The native grasses are still dormant while the mesquite is not showing much of anything. The rate of Fire Danger has been increasing in the past week, but the conditions are there. While there have been some small changes to the Drought Monitor for the area it has not changed much in the last couple of years. And yet they have not explained the lack of drought relief for the last couple of years. It is getting to be more expensive to supplemental feed livestock due to the inflation. The local sale barn has shown to be steady with the weekly sale numbers the past few weeks.
