Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: ID-BK-27
Station Name: Inkom 5.5 N
Report Date: 3/26/2023
Submitted: 3/26/2023 6:19 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Wet
Description:
General: This is the most snow we've had in the 25 years we've lived here. We've had nearly 30" in March, which is 20" over our 25 year (uncalibrated) average of 9.8". We are at almost 170" of snow for the snow year, compared with our previous highest of 145" (uncalibrated) in 2018-2019.
Agriculture: the snow bodes well for our dryland farming.
Fire: The snow makes danger right now nil, but we'll see how the fuel issue is in spring.
Plants/wildlife: The wind we had this week was really rough on birds. We fear for the owls nesting in our trees. Haven't heard them in a day or so.
Water: This is great news for water. We hope to actually see our pond, which disappeared many years ago. We'd love to have frogs again, but that is probably unlikely.
