Mississippi CoCoRaHS turns 1!
Mississippi CoCoRaHS was formally launched August 1st, 2008. That means that we officially celebrated our 1 year anniversary.
As the year closed, we had 200 rainfall observers. Thirty of those observers have been with us for the whole year. Special thanks to them and all of our rainfall reporters for making our first year a success.
Speaking of years...the wet weather we have had this fall made me want to calculate my station's "water year." If you are a CoCoRaHS observer, you should have gotten an email from Nolan about what goes into your water year. Basically, it's the amount of monthly precipitation from October 1 to September 30. If you report--he would like this to also include snowfall and how many precipitation, snow and hail days you had per month. At my station in Oktibbeha County, I only had 1 snow day, so I made a graph showing precipitation and precipitation days only. My total for the year was 81.65" including one multi-day report that spanned two months. I will post my graph here for you to see. The number of days may not be completely accurate because I had a few multi-day reports, but the precipitation amount is pretty accurate.
