Description: The ground is continuing to dry out. The creek and pond are both back to below normal levels. The grass in the yard is growing slowly if at all. Areas of the yard are turning brown for lack of water. We are also seeing increased numbers of leaves turning brown and dropping off the trees. The deer continue to eat whatever is left of the hostas and other plants they fancy. We have seen more humming birds in the past week than previously sighted. Perhaps they are beginning to gather for the flight south. The butterflies are gathering in a few bushes in large numbers. The milkweed which was supposed to attract Monarch butterflies has yet to do so. Most of the plants have not yet flowered so perhaps there is hope for later in the season.
