The approximately 1 1/2 inches of rain over the last week as improved moisture conditions. Trees are budding. Grass is growing relatively quickly. The pasture across the road is looking more lush. The lake level is up. Our lake is controlled by a dam. The gates are manipulated by the operator.  View

Strong storms and 2 tornadoes passed within a mile of us yesterday early evening. Tornadoes collapsed newly built FedEx building just west of us. Much roof damage and trees down in Portage Michigan. Strip mall destroyed. Mobile home park just north of us has heavy damage. No hail here but 4” hail documented in another tornado zone 20 miles SE of us. All totaled there were 4 tornadoes in SW Michigan yesterday evening.  View

Conditions are much improved with nearly 2.25" of rain over the past week; however, only one rain event resulted in run-off. Grasses are heading out with less leaf/blade than normal; the hay crop here looks light. Soil moisture is much better, and pond levels are approaching normal for this time of year. A neighbor reports, however, that his ponds remain nearly 3 feet below normal. Wet-weather springs still aren't flowing.  View

Fields are beginning to dry after a fairly wet Spring. Just when things are dry (normal) we get a significant amount of rain. Fields and lawns are green and healthy. Leaves are almost completely out. Rivers and streams are running normally at bank full levels. Lakes are full.  View

Sunny and warm with light winds, then increasing clouds overnight with light winds and a thunderstorm. The high temperature was around seventy four degrees, and the low around fifty six degrees Fahrenheit. Songbirds are eating consistently. Intermittent streams are mostly all flowing at a medium spring rate. Marsh Marigolds are in full flower, some more apple tree leaves are emerging and some blooming. Weeping Willow, Bramble and Multifloral Rose leaves are emerging. Fields are being plowed and planted. Choke cherries are blooming. Silver Maple leaves are over half emerged.  View
