Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-BN-19
Station Name: Belvidere 5.0 NNW
Report Date: 4/27/2024
Submitted: 4/27/2024 9:49 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
With 0.27” precip for the week, all since yesterday, we avoided what would be a mildly dry soil condition and managed to remain near normal for now. My spring's flow has continued to decrease but is still ok. Area waterways are down a bit but all look pretty good. The trees, despite the cool temps and several frosts, continue to leaf out and look greener than expected, being about a third or so of the way to fully green. Lawns are green and were growing slowly but with the warmer temps now and more rain in the forecast, I expect them to really pick up the pace. I haven’t noticed a lot of wildlife out there but I did see a crow carrying something and wondered if it might have raided a nest. Don’t ask me how, maybe it was the way it was flying and where it kept flying to but it did seem to be acting kind of guilty. It’s a jungle out there.
