Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-IR-25
Station Name: Milford 3.5 ENE
Report Date: 4/27/2024
Submitted: 4/27/2024 7:15 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Wet
Description:
Another 1.71" of rain this week. Combine that with the cold temperatures we had this week on soil that was more wet than normal to begin with, and I had to put my condition rating on the moderately wet side. The soil is almost completely saturated with numerous spots of standing water present in crop fields. Local creeks and streams also appear to be at higher levels than normal. With more rain on the way over the next week, farmers will need a lot of sunny, dry days in a row before they'll be able to start planting. The few fields that were already planted will struggle to survive, as the extended period of cool, wet weather is very detrimental to crop seed. There's a very good chance planting progress will be behind normal for at least the next couple of weeks.
