Report Date: 5/19/2019
Submitted: 5/19/2019 8:24 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
Climatologically this location is around normal for rainfall. It has rained practically everyday in the last two weeks however, with about 4.2 inches. This is after a fairly dry April. Farmers have not had much access to fields this past week, maybe an afternoon and evening to plant. Estimate 50% has been planted, and that maybe high. Ponds are filling and the South, Middle and North rivers are running bankfull. The Des Moines river at Hiway 69 was falling but is now bankful with the rainfall this past week. Significant swings in temperature occurred this past week with lows in the 30s on Monday to a record high of 93 on Thursday. Grass is practically jumping out of the ground growing so fast. If the rain keeps up, Mildly Wet is close on the horizon.
