We had 1.66" of rain this week, T-storms, a couple of tornado warnings, a little high wind. Local gardeners are having a challenging time trying to plant our gardens between storms, and the mud is sticky. I'm nine days behind my usual annual planting schedule, so far, with many new plants aging in their nursery pots, waiting to go into the ground. I haven't seen any planted farm fields yet. The grass is growing too fast to keep up with mowing adequately between storms. The local bird population (sparrows, robins & doves) seems denser than usual, and I'm seeing more assorted butterflies than usual, too. The Illinois River is way over its banks.
