Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: SC-BF-23
Station Name: Daufuskie Island 1.7 SW
Report Date: 4/22/2019
Submitted: 4/22/2019 9:43 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
We’ve had rain on three days amounting to 0.51”. The heaviest was Friday at 3:45 PM when that
front that did a lot damage across the country arrived. It had lost a lot of it’s strength but we
still got a 60 MPH gust the airport in Savannah. A few trees down on the island but no damage
that I’ve heard of. It moved out in a few hours and was gone. Clearing skies and strong winds
followed.

Animals: The Cedar Wax Wings arrived the day after my last report and have ravished our
mulberry trees…my, my, my, can they ever eat berries. We’ve picked all we want so they are
welcome to them. Also Summer Tanagers, Indigo Buntings and wood peckers like them. Wonderful
trees for bird watching for sure. Squirrels are coming back to this end of the island. Lots more in
the roads and they like mulberries too.

Tourists: Sunny days and they come. Cloudy, windy, they stay away.

Garden: Still putting a few things in like egg plants, cukes and such. The garlic is blooming so
enjoying garlic spears. I break them out and eat them like asparagus..roasted in the oven is good
too. Removing them from the plant makes the cloves grow bigger.

Bugs: Gally-nipper mosquitoes at the beach. they take a gallon of blood to the nip…so that’s what
my grandfather named them.:)) You feel like a big spider with wings is after you.

That’s it mates..enjoy this dynamic time of the year while it’s still cool. The heat is coming. Till
next time..Cheers to ya! Daufuskie Dundee
