Description:
For the week ending 12/16/2018, conditions were NEAR NORMAL. The 7-day cumulative precipitation total of 0.49 inches was 30% below the 9-year (2009-2017) average of 0.70 inches for this date and was in the “near normal” range; the 30-day total of 3.37 inches was 15% above the 9-year average of 2.93 inches and in the “near normal” range; and the 90-day total of 10.68 inches was 8% above average and in the “near normal” range. The maximum daily precipitation was 0.46 inches on the 14th. Snow was responsible for 0% of precipitation this week. There was 0.0 inches of new snow this week, with a maximum depth of a Trace (on the 10th, 11th, and 12th). Temperatures ranged from 46 (on the 14th) to 21 (on the 11th) degrees F, with average Hi/Lo temperatures of 40/27 F. Overall, the average high temperature was 4 degrees F warmer than last week, while the average low temperature was 5 degrees F warmer than last week. Warming temperatures in the latter half of the week caused significant reductions in the number and diversity of bird species coming to the feeders. Following heavy overnight rains and warming temperatures, a dandelion was noted in bloom on the 14th as the ground suddenly became frost-free.
