Description:
NWS COOP STATION GNTS1  During Hurricane Michael, this station received 3.58 inches rainfall.  This surpasses the daily rainfall accumulation record of 3.47 inches (Hurricane Irma 11SEP18).  Rainfall for October is 3.99 inches which is +0.8 inches above normal.  Rainfall for 2018 is 51.94 inches which is +6.59 inches above normal.  Since 11OCT18, this station has received no measurable precipitation.  Local conditions are NEAR NORMAL.  Some pine needles and leaves are falling due to the recent FROPA (COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE) which occurred at 12:30 AM Thursday morning 18OCT18.  Evapotranspiration rates have ranged between 0.08 to 0.12 inches.  Due to our first freeze which normally occurs in November, I will stop reporting ET November 1st.  Soil Temperatures (4" and 8" depths) have fallen into the 70's.  USEPA PM2.5 Air Quality Index readings have been in the GOOD range.
