Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: ID-BK-27
Station Name: Inkom 5.5 N
Report Date: 5/24/2026
Submitted: 5/24/2026 6:31 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
General: We are dry. We had a tiny bit of rain this week, but generally we're at .08" for May, and last year we had 1.14" for May (we expect, on 6 year average, to get about 1.6"). We're down for the month, for the winter, and for the water year.
Agriculture: What I assume is mustard is struggling without rain. There is still a lot of space between plants in parts of the field.
Energy: We're in peak generation now. We generated 97.47 kWHR yesterday and used 26.21 kWHR.
Fire: Danger is high.
Plants/wildlife: More birds have arrived, and it's a little noisier. We have 3 hummingbirds, and hope we'll get more with migration. Last year we had around 12 at any time. The beaver pond has not been worked on by the beavers (the Bannock County Roads and Bridges Department destroyed it a couple of weeks ago). I'm not hopeful that they will rebuild since we're so low on water flow. They likely moved on (I hope the crew didn't kill them). It's discouraging, to say the least. Beaver ponds are a major contributor to aquifer replenishment, and this, of all years, is a particularly unwise year to destroy a means of recharging Pocatello's water source.
Water: Our condition is simply not great. Poor soil moisture, and nothing falling.
