Description:
For the week ending 5/24/2026, conditions were NEAR NORMAL. The 7-day cumulative precipitation total of 0.60 inches was 23% below the 13-year (2009-2022) average of 0.78 inches and in the “near normal” range; the 30-day total of 2.52 inches was 26% below the expected 13-year average of 3.42 inches and in the “near normal” range; and the 90-day total of 14.48 inches was 41% above the expected 13-year average of 10.25 inches and in the “mildly wet” range. There were 3 days of measurable precipitation, with a max of 0.34 inches on the 23rd. Temps ranged from 86 F (on the 17th) to 51 F (on the 22nd), with average Hi/Lo temps of 75/56 F (+9/+11 relative to last week). Precipitation Trends—May to Date: 1.60 inches (down 1.54 inches, 51% of PRISM Normal); Year to Date (2026): 19.23 inches (up 5.35 inches, 139% of PRISM Normal). Bullfrogs were heard croaking on Crescent Lake for the first time this spring on the 19th. Tree foliage is now nearing peak density, with late-leafing Sassafras and Sycamores finally leafing out. Two broods of Canada Geese—each with 8 gawky goslings—were in the yard on the 24th.
