The soil is a powdery consistency, a full 12 inches deep. Vegetation is extremely dry and will support the combustion needed to start a wildland fire.  The bean crops are so dry, they create a dust storm condition if the wind is up. The Corn Crops are being harvested rapidly due to the dryness of the plants and the ground. Lakes are well below their normal average pool, with the streams and creeks nearly dry.
