Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: ME-WL-27
Station Name: Prospect 2.6 W
Report Date: 10/5/2025
Submitted: 10/05/2025 1:57 PM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
Two weeks ago I reported "severly dry", today it is even drier. The Nat'l Drought Monitor says our regional condition is "Extreme Drought.

Small streams and ponds are dry. The largest stream (about 40-50 feet wide) which flows in a tidal marsh could be walked with hardly getting your feet wet.
Largest ponds, > 3 ac., are 4 or more feet below normal levels.

Without a municipal water supply, households depend on shallow and deeper, bedrock wells. Both are starting to run dry. Our household is on restricted water use.

There is so little "mast" for the wildlife that the black bears are foraging close to houses. Not good for the people or the bears.

I dare not cut our small fields with a 4 foot rotary cutter (brush hog) for fear of hitting a rock and stirking a spark.
