Dry conditions have led to increased dust activity and slowing plant growth. Fire risk seem to be elevated with small fires having occurred on the side of AL-24 near East Lawerence. However, conditions are still fairly normal in terms of accumulated rainfall. Smith lake has also begun its yearly lowering to prepare for more rainfall in the winter and spring.
