All of NH is classified as severe drought or extreme drought. At this location in Strafford County, we are in "severe drought".  Despite about 1.3" of rainfall in the last 10 days, the area remains very dry.  Lawns and garden require nearly daily irrigation; rivers, streams, lakes and pond levels are low or very low;  many wetlands are dry; trees and shrubs are prematurely dropping their leaves; some  trees have bare branches; some trees have died.  One large water reservoir in the area has an extremely low water level with large portions of the lakebed dry enough to walk on.  Water use restrictions are in effect in many towns and outdoor burning has been banned statewide, including campfires at campgrounds.  Boating is being affected as low water levels expose boaters to more unseen risks of objects beneath the surface.
