Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: TX-WK-5
Station Name: Huntsville 2.8 WSW
Report Date: 3/24/2017
Submitted: 6/02/2017 8:36 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
The bar ditch in the front yard is too wet to mow. In spite of a couple of wet years, the mixed pine and hardwood forest near my home is just now devoid of dead trees from the preceding drought. Winter ended in February, and we have had some record or near-record high high & low temperature days. Thankfully, it has been rainy enough to compensate, but cooling costs are still up. There are still controlled burns in the area to keep fuels under control, and there have been a couple of small grass fires in the county in the last month, which shows how spotty the rains have been. The deer population is moderately heavy (two herds in our small subdivision.) During normal yard work in the last week, we have seen two snakes(both non-venomous; we don't routinely see snakes in the yard.)
