Ground remains wet from earlier rains.  Snow flurries a couple of days this week but no accumulation.  Temperature has been cold enough to keep the ponds frozen.  I saw a small group of sandhill cranes flying towards the west on Jan 6.  I made the trip to Jackson County and found a group of about 500 foraging in a corn field.  Not a massive group but worth the drive.
